So, last Thursday was my last day of summer school. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am that I am finally on break! Not that I'm complaining...working only 4 hours a day for 20 days isn't that bad. I'm just ready to not work for a while.
Lance and I have a couple of things planned for our time off. Next Thursday, we're heading up to see Lance's dad for two nights. I haven't seen his home since they finished building it a few years ago. Lance went up there and stayed for a night last year. We don't get to see them very often, so it will be nice to visit and catch up.
We also decided against taking a road trip. I'm still a bit bummed that we're not going, but it's okay. I'll spare you all the details as to why we're not going, but we just coudn't work it out. Instead of a road trip, we decided to take a 5 day cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico with my parents in August. We opted for a 5 day because this is Lance's first cruise. Maybe we'll take a longer cruise next time if he really likes it. I think he was probably sold on it the minute I told him that there was a sushi bar on board. He told me that he plans to eat nothing but sushi on the cruise to really get our money's worth. I'm just so happy to actually be going somewhere. I love going out of town on vacation. I plan to do nothing but relax and eat the entire time. I just love cruises...
Lance talked to our social worker, Susan, a couple of weeks ago. We wanted to make sure that we hadn't slipped through the cracks or had been forgotten. She told him that we definitely have not been forgotten and that even though we looked excellent from the start of this process, we look even better now because we have been waiting so long. I guess it really shows them that we're serious about wanting to adopt. When we were going through this process, they didn't have any kind of timeline to give us as to when we could expect to be placed. Now, apparently, they are telling people that it will be at least a year before they are placed. She also hinted to him that we are close to the top of the list and told him that there were a lot of people who were in front of us and had been waiting even longer to adopt. So, even though we're not placed yet, it was nice to touch base with her and know that we're still in this. It gave Lance and I a renewed confidence that we're doing the right thing.
Have a nice weekend!

Just stopping in to say hello :::waves::: :)
I've always wanted to attempt a cruise, but I'm so afraid I'll get sea sick and not be able to enjoy it. I used to work with a girl who went on one and it happened to her and she said the nausea was like anything she has ever experienced.
I hope you guys have a fantastic time!
Hey FD!
I'm so glad you stopped by! What a nice surprise!
I've only been on one other cruise and it was fantastic. I got sick one night and then I was fine. I get pretty sea sick/car sick/motion sick, so I went to the doctor and he gave me a prescription for a patch that I will wear.
I'm just so happy you came by! =) Stop by anytime.
