Lance and I did an all day CPR/First Aid class today. It was offered through the county as part of their continuing education program for foster and adoptive parents. This was by far the best CPR class that we have taken. The teachers were excellent! Another plus was that you didn't have to take the lame test at the end. I hate tests! We also got out of class a bit early. No complaining here!
It is always nice to talk to other people who are foster and adoptive parents. There was a lady in our class today that has been in another one of our classes and we remembered each other right away. She has 4 children right now (at least one of them is adopted and one is a foster child) and they have started the process of adopting another child. While talking to her, we realized that we both have the same social worker. She told me exactly what I had heard from other people...that our social worker, Susan, is completely swamped with caseloads. She told us that the best advice she could give us was to give her another call soon just to check in. I'm going to follow that advice and hopefully call her this week. Susan apparently told her that she has a couple who have been waiting to adopt for over a year and a half now...we both wondered if she was talking about me and Lance. I'm crossing my fingers that it won't be too much longer!
